Is it possible to have a collection of different nail polishes? Or is it a waste?

Im just curious. I was thinking of making a collection of different color nail polishes but is it a waste? Like will they go bad after time, even if i never open them? How to salons do keep all those nail polishes they display good for a long time? I will chose whoever has the most thorough answer. I have had polish thicken over time even though I had never opened it. I tried adding nail polish thinner to some of them, but I could never quite get the right consistency and ended up throwing them out. The beauty shops probably have enough customers they can use their products faster than we can. I really think it would be more practical for you to just have basic colors of clear, red, pink, and beige. Maybe a white frosted and something glittery for fun.





Remember it鈥檚 much better to apply lots of thin coats of color rather that one thick one, it will dry quicker and last longer. Always use a clear base coat, and top coat.





Note: Thinner should only be used if necessary, and only added at least 20 minutes before use.

Its not a waste. Sure you can collect them. And the nail salons collect them too, and the way that they preserve their polish is to add pure acetone whenever it looks like its drying or cklunking up. Pour just a little in there, and shake the bottle. Like new. I promise!
you can use this seche restore thinner . so it`ll last a long time you just drop a 2-3 drops in the nail polish and it`ll be good as new ! and a nail polish collection would be cute :)
U can collect what ever U like. Nail polish does have a ';shelf life';. I think that the nail polish on display is just for display so that customers can chose a colour. Salons can afford to do this, only U can decide if it is worth it to have your own collection.
I don't think it's a waste because i don't think nail polish will dry out if it's not opened
Good polish will be fine if stored away from heat and light. I'm wearing a 12-year-old OPI right now (Jasper Jade).





I have a ton of polish, use them all, and have fun with it. If you want a collection, just pick up the really cool ones you see, save them, and in time you'll have one!





Also - NEVER put acetone in polish - it will destroy the texture and finish! Only use nail polish thinner.

It really depends how you take care of them.


like people accidentally dont shut them all the way so they dry out


so like maybe once and a while shake them up


and get GOOD brands like O.P.I
Once you open the bottle , you have to use it. Salons have a big turnover, so they use the polish frequently. If not they thin it with something. I forgot what. Anyway the colors change every season. So I'd collect something else.
Yeah you should defitly do that it is not a wast of time!!! Do it see how many you can do.
